Lesson 1 (Intro)

Christ Is Revealed Amidst His Church

A very special blessing is given to those who study and take the Book of Revelation seriously. It contains the revelation of Jesus Christ Who is its central theme as He is in the rest of the Bible. In vision, the apostle John who shared three-and-a half years with Jesus in His earthly ministry, witnesses Christ in the midst of His Church holding His servants in His hand. Our Saviour assures us of being close to His people at all times, through every trial and temptation, persecution, suffering and death.

As we journey through the Book of Revelation, we shall witness the drama between Christ and Satan, who is the main antagonist and is determined to destroy the Church. Through the Cross, Jesus already gained the victory over Satan but even though the battle continues, that victory is assured to the faithful who trust in Him. The return of Jesus in glory is the precious assurance of the saints; and then the final eradication of all evil will be realized, and Christ’s eternal Kingdom will be established.

Christ’s Message to His Church (part 1)

Christ’s messages to the Seven Churches contain historical and prophetic significance. There is a correlation between the Early Church’s situation and that of the church throughout the ages to the ‘time of the end’. In this lesson, we shall visit the first four ancient sites and examine their significance.

Lesson 4 (Intro)

The Throne-room of the Universe

The initial introduction has been given in chapters 1-3 in which Jesus has introduced Himself and given a brief panoramic survey of church history from the early Christian Church in AD 31, down the corridor of time to these last days during the time of the Investigative Judgement prior to His glorious return. What now follows is apocalyptic drama in the Great Controversy between Christ and Satan.

Lesson 5 (Intro)

The Opening of the Seven Seals

As our Kinsman-Redeemer, having taken the Scroll of Human Destiny into His hands, now commences to open the Seven Seals. In doing so, is revealed the course of human history as it impacts upon His Church. Satan’s warfare against Christ and His Church is not without consequences, but it is all registered in the books of heaven. Yet throughout the entire period of their turbulent experience, Jesus remains amongst His faithful people, watching over them and sustaining them by His special grace until that climactic event when Satan’s warfare meets its ultimate end. Jesus will then ring down the curtain upon the whole controversy when the enemies meet their final nemesis and the saints are delivered victoriously to inherit their eternal, heavenly home.

Lesson 6 (Intro)

The Sealing of God’s Faithful People

After the opening of the 6th Seal, an extremely important question arises following the dramatic return of Christ. That question concerns who would be able to stand in the day of God’s wrath (Rev.6:17). An intermission in the sequence between the 6th and 7th Seals therefore takes place in order to answer this question. It is revealed that only those who receive the Seal of God shall be able to stand. What then is the Seal of God? Who are the 144,000? Who compose that Great Multitude that no one could number? What is the Great Tribulation? These questions need to be understood before we progress further into the Book of Revelation and before the 7th Seal is opened.

Lesson 7 (Intro)

Intercession and The Close of Probation

As Jesus opens the 7th Seal on the scroll now securely in His hand, He directs our attention to His essential ministry of intercession as our Heavenly High Priest. This relates very closely with the Sealing Work specified in chapter 7. A ‘Time of Trouble’ is imminent and before God’s door of mercy finally closes upon our sinful, human race, it is imperative that we establish our confidence in Christ’s meritorious provision for our redemption in preparation for His soon return. “Now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation” – 2 Corinthians 6:2.

Lesson 8 (Intro)

Judgements on the Western Empire of Rome

The dramatic portrayal of the coming judgements is about to commence as the 7 trumpets prepared to sound. The first four of those trumpets sounded the warning upon the Western Empire of Rome. When the apostle John received this vision, the Roman Empire was at its height, but its future was about to topple as it became more and more corrupt and disgusting in its degraded and sordid pleasures. Through the former prophet Daniel God had previously forecasted the fragmenting of that infamous empire. That fragmenting was soon to be realized when the trumpets were about to sound.

Lesson 9 (Intro)

Judgements on the Eastern Empire of Rome

An intriguing account of the rise and fall of Islam was foretold in the prophetic sounding of the fifth and sixth trumpets, which witnessed the fall of the Eastern Empire of Rome. During the judgement warning of both trumpets, God gave a forecast of specific time that was fulfilled exactly on time. In so doing, the dates confirm the accuracy of the historical interpretation of the first six trumpets that bear witness to the ultimate downfall of the Roman Empire. They also testify to the veracity and reliability of the Bible. Such confidence is needed in our modern, sceptical world. We can be sure therefore that the promise of the glorious return of Jesus, as foretold in the Scriptures, will not only see the ultimate redemption of God’s faithful people but also, as in the warning of the seventh trumpet, bring about the final judgement on the kingdoms of this world.

Lesson 10 (Intro)

The Arrival of God’s Last-day Prophetic Movement

Following the long historical period of apostasy when false teachings and traditions replaced the truths of God’s Word, the regaining of those important doctrines was first realized during the Protestant Reformation. When time was ripe, God directed the continuation of restoring important Biblical teachings. That moment came about at the ‘time of the end’ when the prophetic book of Daniel became more clearly understood, resulting in the realization that the Judgement had begun and Jesus was soon to return and establish His Kingdom. This brought about the arrival of God’s end-time movement that was to proclaim His final message of warning to the world; so that when the 7th Trumpet sounded, God would finish His great work of Salvation.

Lesson 11 (Intro)

God’s Two Witnesses

During the arrival of the “the time of the end” certain outstanding events fulfilling Bible prophecy aroused greater confidence in the Bible. At the same time, atheism was attacking the Bible and Christianity. This was yet another conflict in the great controversy between Christ and Satan. Yet, in spite of attempts to silence and destroy the Word of God and suppress the Christian message, they both remain and God’s final warning to the world is going forward from strength to strength, heralding the day of Christ’s imminent, victorious return. We need not underestimate the authority of God’s Word. What God declares will be done.

Lesson 12 (Intro)

Judgement on the kingdoms of this world

When the 7th Trumpet sounds, “the mystery of God” will be finished. God’s judgements upon this world will then reach their ultimate fulfilment. When it is too late, the lost will discover their folly in life was refusing God’s mercy and saving grace. They will come face to face with reality as it dawns upon them that their choice of defying His Word and resisting His solemn warnings has landed them on the wrong side of the fence. The contrasting scene will reveal the rich and glorious future now to be experienced by the redeemed as they are rescued from the destruction about to fall upon this sin-infested world with its lost inhabitants!

Lesson 13 (Intro)

The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan

As we engage in Revelation chapter 12, we reach the pinnacle of this prophetic book where Jesus reveals the dramatic account of the great controversy that is raging between Christ and Satan. Throughout the history of this world, Satan has sought to overthrow the Kingdom of God in his futile attempts to establish his own. Failing to destroy Jesus when He dwelt on earth, he now directs his attention towards God’s faithful people. However, Christ conquered the devil at Calvary, whereby we too through His victory may overcome Satan’s control. It is now only a question of time before the adversary meets his ultimate end.

Lesson 14 (Intro)

Forming the Image to the Beast

Prophetic fulfilment offers confidence as we await further Biblical predictions. As we survey the historical scene as it passes before us, we see the drama unfold from a seven-headed, composite beast to a deadly wound that is eventually healed; then springing up on the stage of history, a lamblike beast that is yet to form an image to its forerunner. Today, as we foresee the future through the prophetic telescope, we can identify the gradual formation of the image to the beast as it peaks above the not-too-distant horizon. To the unprepared, the fulfilment of this divine prediction will suddenly burst upon the entire world, but to those who heed God’s word it will prove a test of supreme loyalty to their Creator.

Lesson 15 (Intro)

The Mark of the Beast

The topic of the ‘Mark of the Beast’ has attracted the interest and curiosity of many people who claim a range of theories as to what it is. Yet, as we examine the Bible’s clear teachings we discover its true identity. It is vitally important therefore to have that knowledge so that we are not deceived and “carried about with every wind of doctrine” (Ephesians 4:14).  We therefore embark upon this study to understand what the Bible has revealed to us.

Lesson 16 (Intro)

God’s Last Warning Message to the World – Part 1

To our world immersed in bad news, the “everlasting gospel” brings good news. It undergirds God’s last warning message to inhabitants of a planet in rebellion at an hour when the day of Judgement has begun. Redemptive love still reaches out in compassion to save this world before it is too late. In contrast to Satan’s method in the Great Controversy to gain victory by deception, fear and threat, Christ’s method stands out in stark contrast. He offers reconciliation and restoration to all who respond to accept His offer of mercy.

God’s Last Warning Message to the World – Part 2

Following on from the previous study of the First Angel’s Message in Revelation 14 that calls our attention to the “Everlasting Gospel”, our attention is now directed to the Second and Third Angels’ Messages. The “Everlasting Gospel” undergirds all three messages: whereas the first calls everyone into a close relationship with our Maker, the second and third messages bring a stark warning to all the world.  God’s last warning message to the world comes to us from His heart of love and concern for our eternal salvation, so that we may escape the ultimate consequences of evil.

Lesson 18 (Intro)

The Two Harvests

The sequence of the Three Angels’ Message that enfolds God’s Last Warning Message to this world is as follows: The First, being the call of “the everlasting gospel” within the context that the time of Judgement has now come, is motivated by God’s love for the human race; it invites us into a right relationship with Himself. That is followed by the Second which alerts us to what has gone wrong in Christendom, while the Third warns us about what is soon to come and the serious consequences that will follow those who refuse to take heed to God’s call of mercy. Our attention is then directed to two separate harvests – the Grain Harvest and the Vintage Harvest. Everyone is given the choice as to which one they will experience. One will end in glory while the other ends in destruction.

Lesson 19 (Intro)

The Seven Last Plagues

God’s Last call of mercy is given from His great heart of love for fallen humanity. He offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who accept His gracious gift. Those who choose to reject His mercy will inevitably reap the dreadful consequences. When the door of mercy finally closes, they will no longer experience God’s protection as they drink down to the last dregs of that bitter cup. When the seven last plagues are released, God will make a clear, undeniable distinction between those who accept His mercy and those who do not: between those who are His true and faithful people and those who are not.

Lesson 20 (Intro)

God’s Judgment of the Harlot, the Beast and the Devil

The prophet now receives a composite picture of God’s judgment on the powers of evil. The identity of the harlot, the beast and the devil stand confirmed. His judgment upon them is carried out during the seven last plagues, but under the sixth plague the wickedness of the harlot will reach its height whereas, when the seventh plague takes place, her power and control will fall apart.  Judgment against her will be executed. Finally, in the closing phase of the Last Judgment, God will bring an eternal end to all wickedness and usher in eternal righteousness and peace according to His promise.

Lesson 21 (Intro)

The Two Suppers

Once again, we are directed to the Last Judgement. Whereas we were previously shown the contrast between the Two Harvests, we now view the contrast between The Marriage Supper of the Lamb and The Great Supper of God. Questions, however, need answering such as when does the wedding between Christ and His bride take place, when does the Marriage Supper take place, when does the betrothal happen and how much was the wedding dowry? Clarification concerning the gruesome portrayal of the destruction of the wicked also needs answers. These questions are all found in the Bible.

Lesson 22 (Intro)

Judgement Before the Great White Throne

Attention now focuses on the final phase of the Last Judgement that transpires at the close of the Millennium. What will take place during this thousand-year period before that final phase? What purpose will that final phase serve in dealing with the universal sin problem? Why will those who are lost appear before God’s “Great White Throne” before their ultimate destruction? Why does the Bible speak of two resurrections? What is the difference between the first and second death? How will God ensure, without removing our freedom of choice, that sin will not arise a second time? These are all important questions that will be answered in this particular study.

Eternal Bliss and the Home of the Saved

The Bible says: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, . . . the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:10). Our imagination cannot comprehend what it will be like to live in a world that is devoid of evil and free from contamination of any kind. We can only understand from the preview of that glorious future that God has given us in His Word. It will be a pure environment; a completely safe and happy place for all creatures, including the saints; it will be a healthy and joyful life that will be free from illness, suffering and death; and we shall talk with Jesus face to face. Wow – what a magnificent future for us to prepare for and look forward to!
